Holes are important not just for air, but also to control humidity and temperature.
Ventilation holes in tubs can be added in various ways. The quickest and most efficient way is to use a soldering iron. Other options are drilling, and heating up a screwdriver.
It is important especially with a tub for hatchlings that the holes are small enough so that the hatchlings do not escape. (if they are made to, big , an easy way to solve this, is to stick a net / tights material over the holes.

The number of holes, and it's placement, depends on the size of the tank, and also the type of pet snail you are keeping. It is a bit of trial and error, as you find what works best for your set up. Some people only have holes on the lid of the tub, others only have them on the sides, and others have both. One is able to find tubs with pre-made holes. (though these are not usually made specifically for pet snail keeping.

This videos here are specifically for snail keepers, but the process of making the ventilation holes is the same. If you want your holes to be very need and symmetrical, I advise using a ruler and a pen, and marking where you want the holes, before you start. |
